Call for papers international MARINA conference on marine responsible research and innovation

"Science, Innovation and Blue Society - Our engagement with the ocean". Under this motto, the organizers of the MARINA conference want to stimulate the debate on the challenges facing the marine and maritime community as more and more Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles are implemented in research and innovation processes. Abstracts on RRI experiences related to the marine domain can be submitted until 8 February.

RRI should encourage scientists and societal stakeholders to work together throughout the research and innovation process, and to align both the process itself and the results with the values, needs and expectations of society. RRI aims to promote cooperation between scientists, industry, citizens and policy makers across disciplines. It is expected to allow marine resources to be managed in a more sustainable way.

Speakers at the MARINA conference (12-13 March, Boulogne-sur-Mer) can contribute to the debate by submitting papers describing experiences, case studies, project results or research activities related to the marine domain, and where the implementation of the RRI or Blue Society concepts made a difference in the impact on research, innovation and European society. The themes are: tourism and coastal cities, pollution, fisheries and aquaculture, renewable blue energy (wave, wind, tides), climate change, marine biotechnology, maritime transport, deep sea mines, Ocean Literacy and education, etc.
